That’s so metal.
Zendaya hit the red carpet at the Ballon d’Or in Paris on Monday, wearing an open-back vintage Roberto Cavalli gown with a golden creature — part scorpion, part centipede — that snaked down her spine.
She paired it with a sleek, side-parted bun and chunky gold Jennifer Fisher hoop earrings, allowing the look’s built-in jewelry to take center stage.
The creepy-crawly dress, which is from Cavalli’s Fall 2000 collection, was immediately linked to the actress’ role in the “Spider-Man” franchise by one fan.

“Zendaya as Dr. Octopus, but in fashion,” wrote @dayacrue, comparing the back of the actress’ gown to Alfred Molina’s metal-armed Doc Ock.
“We love a reference,” Zendaya said when she shared the post.
The “Euphoria” star, who arrived at the event on the arm of her boyfriend and “Spider-Man” co-star Tom Holland, is known for wearing vintage looks on the red carpet.
She wore a vintage Versace gown from 1996 to the Green Carpet Fashion Awards last year.

“[Zendaya] was born in 1996, so I thought it’d be fun [for her] to wear something from that year,” her stylist, Law Roach, said at the time to British Vogue. “It’s taking her back — maybe Zendaya would have been a Versace model if she had been of age at the time.”
At the 2021 BET Awards, the Emmy winner wore another archival Versace gown, this time a plunging purple number from 2003 that had previously been seen on Beyoncé.

“Find a stylist who has an ARCHIVE!!!!” Roach made a joke about it on social media at the time.
We can’t wait to see what other gems the stylist has stashed away in her closet.
